MCCI had the opportunity to work with an energetic and creative dentist who envisioned a nautical themed atmosphere for her young patients' enjoyment. This thrilling project came with the unique challenge of building a state-of-the-art dental office within leased space of a new medical office building currently under construction. This required coordination with the owner/landlord's contractor whose schedule did not always align with the schedule we were trying to maintain.
The landlord, immersed in their own building and office space, deferred the normal building systems such as mechanical, electrical and plumbing to be a part of the dental office fit-up. The system tie-in's needed to occur in the ceiling of the space that the landlord was anxious to occupy. Furthermore, due to the hard ceiling finishes below, all dental equipment connections had to be precise and accomplished with no margin for error.
As construction progressed and work started on the finishes, the project became very fluid as different creative ideas were put forth by the client, her interior design team and MCCI. Each idea was presented with the cost and aesthetics associated prior to proceeding.
It is easy to get caught up in the many unusual finishes but the true challenge was insulating our client from any delays or interruptions brought on by the "shell/ landlord work" being done out of our control and taking place all around us.
The final result was an energy efficient and exciting space that was finished on time and within budget. Both the dentist and her many young patients have expressed great pleasure with the end result.
